Sun Life in Waterloo was a one floor, approximately 70,000 sq. ft. new build project that took about 7 months for us to complete. This project included the fabrication of ceiling clouds which required extensive and detailed internal planning as well as engineer sign off to ensure safety and weight restrictions were accounted for.

One unique challenge we faced on this project was unaccounted for interferences with the mechanical scope and drywall bulkheads which we collaborated with our client, the project design team and the mechanical contractor to find alternative solutions to complete the detail in a manner that was safe and aesthetically pleasing. Working in tandem with the local Kitchener/Waterloo Carpenter’s Union, we were able to successfully create jobs for more than a dozen local members for the duration of the project. Many of these employees are still working with Maxan today.
